Faculty of Social Sciences is Launching the Lecture Cycles “Caucasus in Focus: Interdisciplinary Analysis of the Region”

Faculty of Social Sciences is launching the Lecture Cycles “Caucasus in Focus: Interdisciplinary Analysis of the Region”.

The subject of discussions is actual topics, challenges and prospects of the Caucasus Region. 10 lectures / panel discussions will be delivered by the prominent field experts, scholars, civil activists, decision-makers, analysts and etc. Meetings in the format of public lectures or panel discussions will start on November 8 and last until December 17.

The lecture series will be opened by Giorgi Maisuradze, Professor of the Ilia State University talking on the topic “Caucasus in the Philosophic Lenses: Mosaic of the Peoples and the States”. Meeting will take place at A101. Details on the consecutive lectures will be published gradually.

Participants will have an opportunity to attend the lectures on the following issues as well:

🔎 Caucasus in the Philosophic Lenses: Mosaic of the Peoples and the States – Giorgi Maisuradze, Professor of the Ilia State University;
🔎Analysis of the Political Processes in the Modern South Caucasus States – Ivliane Khaindrava, Deputy Head of the National Security Council of Georgia;
🔎Current Neighborhood Policy Trends in the South Caucasus States – Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Georgia;
🔎Foreign Politics Vectors of the Caucasus states – Batu Kutelia, Deputy President of the Georgian Atlantic Council;
🔎Terrorism in the Caucasus Region and the Pother Challenges of the Regional Security – Giorgi Goguadze, Deputy Director at Georgian Center for Security and Development;
🔎Ethnic Diversity of the Caucasus Region – Nino Kalandarishvili, Head of the Institute for  Nationalism and Conflict Studies;
🔎Human Right and Democratization Processes in the Caucasus states – Ombudsmen Office of Georgia;
🔎Interwar Caucasus: Launching an Independent States – David Jishkariani, Researcher at SOVLAB;
🔎Caucasus Countries under the Soviet Governance – Lasha Bakradze, Director of the Literature Museum of Georgia;
🔎Current Political Processes in Armenia and Azerbaijan: Influence on the Regional Dynamics – Olesia Vartanian, Analyst at International Crisis Group in South Caucasus Issues;

Participation is allowed for the International Relations Program students of the Faculty of Social Sciences, IBSU. Students will be awarded with the certificates in case of attendance no less than 7 lectures out of 10.
