Liana Khabelashvili, is International student at International Black Sea University.
My name is Liana Khabelashvili, third-year student in the Faculty of International Relations. I came from Kazakhstan and chose IBSU because I’d always dreamed of studying at a private international university with a modern approach to education. While browsing online back in Kazakhstan, I discovered IBSU through their Instagram page, which instantly caught my eye. After visiting Georgia and seeing the campus in person, I was convinced that it was the perfect environment for both personal and academic growth. At first, I was a little nervous about the language barrier—I worried that not knowing Georgian well might make daily life challenging and that I’d struggle with everything on my own. But once I arrived, I discovered that every challenge was part of an exciting adventure, and I quickly began to feel at home. Now, when I return to Kazakhstan for the holidays, it feels like my heart is truly in Georgia. Studying abroad has helped me become more communicative, responsible, and resilient. I’ve learned to adapt quickly to new environments, solve problems independently, and appreciate the beauty in every new experience. I’ve also gained a better understanding of cultural diversity and the importance of effective cross-cultural communication. Living here has taught me that every culture has its own unique charm and value. I’ve learned to respect and adapt to local customs instead of insisting on my own ways. This experience has broadened my perspective and given me a deeper appreciation for the different viewpoints and lifestyles that make our world so diverse. What I love most about IBSU is the warm, friendly atmosphere. The supportive and caring environment here fosters both academic excellence and personal growth, making it a truly inspiring place to study. The International Relations Department has been outstanding in helping me settle in and navigate university life. Special thanks go to Medina, who is always so kind and quick to assist with any questions. Her support is everything! My favorite place on campus is the yard. It holds so many precious memories, especially from my first year here. It’s not only where I met many wonderful people, but I also enjoy the simple pleasure of watching the squirrels running around. My classmates are hospitable and friendly, always ready with a warm smile and a helping hand. Their genuine support has made my experience at IBSU enjoyable.
