Contest for obtaining internal university funding for research activities
๐The International Black Sea University announces a contest for obtaining internal university funding for research activities; within the framework of the competition, fundamental, applied and academic research activities are financed;
๐The goal of internal university scientific research grants is to develop the scientific research potential of the university and increase its productivity, stimulate, encourage and support the scientific activities of academic staff, young researchers and students, and promote the integration of academic staff and students of the institution in the local and international scientific scales;
The procedure for issuing internal university scientific research grants:
a) The scientific research project must comply with the main educational directions of the university;
b) The scientific research project must be published in the name of the university;
c) Grant applications for internal university funding for scientific research projects can be submitted through an open contest, which will be held twice a year;
d) From the submission of the grant application until the completion of the research, the university’s standards of ethics and academic integrity apply to all grant participants;
e) An application for funding scientific research activities can be submitted both individually and as a group;
f) If the applicant is a group of researchers, then the head of the research project (principal researcher) must be an academic staff member affiliated with the university (professor or associate professor);
๐ The applicant is responsible for implementing the project within the established deadlines, for the purposefulness of spending the received funding, and for submitting a final report upon completion of the project;
The applicant may be:
- University-affiliated personnel;
- Research centers (heads, employees, and students) at the university;
- Doctoral students;
- Master’s students.
๐๏ธThe budget for the research project should not exceed 15,000 GEL (including taxes provided for by the Georgian legislation);
๐๏ธThe fee charged to the author(s) of the research project should not exceed 30% of the maximum budget;
๐๏ธIn the case of a funding applicant or, in the case of a group of researchers, no more than 70% of the fee of the project leader (principal researcher) shall be paid during the project implementation period, and the remaining amount shall be paid after the fulfillment of all obligations stipulated by the project;
๐๏ธThe maximum term for the implementation of each scientific-research project is set at a maximum of two years from the approval of the financing of the scientific-research project;
Stages of reviewing and making decisions on scientific-research grants:
- Announcing a grant contest;
- Formation of a competition commission evaluating scientific-research projects;
- Receiving grant applications;
- Reviewing and evaluating grant applications;
- Decision-making by the evaluation commission;
- In case of appeal, creation of an appeal commission, re-examination of projects and final decision-making;
- Publication of results on the university website;
- Conclusion of an agreement on financing a scientific-research project;
- Financing of a grant project;
- Monitoring of the implementation of a grant project.
Documentation to be submitted for financing a grant project:
The project application must include:
a) Application form (Annex #1);
b) Information about the scientific-research project (short summary in English), clearly stated goals (which are compatible with the strategic goals of the university), objectives, research results, commercialization of research activities and their integration into practice (Annex #2);
c) Information about the persons involved in the scientific-research project with documents: CV of the persons involved in the research project, (in case of a student, a certificate of student status, semester of study and academic performance);
d) Documentation confirming education;
e) A time-bound plan of activities necessary for the full implementation of scientific-research activities (Appendix #3);
f) A letter of consent from the university regarding the use of material and technical resources (if necessary);
g) Information on co-financing (if any);
h) Estimated budget of the scientific-research project (Appendix #4).
๐Immediately after the deadline for receiving contest documents, grant applications will be submitted to the Contest Commission, which, taking into account the confidentiality policy, will evaluate the projects, make a decision and identify the winning projects within 1 month from the deadline for submitting the application;
๐The results of the competition will be published on the IBSU website after the relevant deadline;
๐The documentation specified for the financing of the grant project must be submitted to the Research Promotion and Project Management Service (Block A, A219) in a sealed envelope within the deadline set for submitting competition documents (incompletely submitted documentation will not be considered) and sent to the specified email address: research@ibsu.edu.ge
๐Application period is from August 26 to September 26, 18:00 (the result regarding the funding will be known on October 25).
