Roman Strass was awarded an honorary doctorate by the International Black Sea University

By the decision of May 14, 2022 of the Governing Board of the International Black Sea University, Roman Strass was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor.

The title was handed over by the Rector of the University, Dr. Saffet Bayraktutan. As he noted, Roman Strass is a longtime friend of the University, having a fruitful relationship with IBSU. “It is a great honor for the University Governing Board to award Mr. Strass the title of Honorary Doctor,” the rector said.

After the award ceremony, Mr. Strass thanked the University Governing Board for the pleasant surprise and said that active cooperation with IBSU will continue in the future. The guest also spoke about important issues of the Eastern Partnership program, Georgia-EU relations and European integration. Roman Strass expressed his hope that the university students will do their best to contribute to the process of Georgia’s integration with Europe.

Mr Strass is a longtime friend and supporter of Georgia and its European future, he played a key role in forming the Group of Friends of Georgia in the European Parliament in October 2017 and became its first Secretary General. He has been involved in European politics for over 40 years and has an impressive career.
