SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Purpose of the Program

The Bachelor of academic program in Informatics is designed to give a student a strong background in the fundamentals of mathematics, physics, and computer engineering and science. A graduate of this program should be able to use these fundamentals to analyze and evaluate computer systems.

The program is prepared to design and implement systems, both hardware and software, which are state of the art solutions to a variety of computing problems. This includes systems which have both hardware and a software component and require a well-defined interface between the two, and the evaluation of the associated engineering trade-offs.

The program provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in programming and computer equipment. Its graduates may continue their academic careers or find jobs in different informational, industrial or commercial sectors.

Field of Employment

The graduates of the Educational Program in Informatics have an opportunity to be employed in both private and governmental organizations in IT sector (software development companies, web hosting companies, IT departments of any companies especially in banking, health, insurance and governmental systems) as well as in various business cooperation, public institutions, etc. The fields of employment can be: software development and support, system administration, data management, research, teaching and consulting and other related fields

Admission to the Program – Informatics

According to the Georgian law, passing Unified National Exams is required to be admitted to the educational program. Student of a bachelor program can become anyone with secondary education. Admission to the educational program without passing Unified National exams may be allowed only in cases considered by the Georgian law.

The 4th subject that should be passed to enroll to the the program additional to 3 obligatory subjects can be: Mathematics or Physics.
