The First Step in Architecture, the brainchild of the IBSU Architecture Program, aims to introduce the basics of the architecture profession. The project helps participants understand the design steps from concept to realization. As part of the project, successful and active students of the architecture program teach various architectural courses to 10th – 12th graders.
The project offers 6 courses to school students, including AutoCAD (bilingual), Basics of Design (Georgian), Architectural Drawing (English), Interior Design (English), and Free Sketching (English).
Within the framework of the training, the school’s students will learn:
• The fundamentals of the architecture profession and its historical development – what responsibilities an architect has and how this field has evolved over time.
• Architectural sketches and the techniques of their creation – how initial sketches are developed and how the idea is transformed into reality.
• Architectural drawing and its corresponding techniques – how precise blueprints should be produced, what tools are used, and what the stages of work are.
• The basic principles of architectural composition and practical approaches – how space is properly planned, how forms and scales are integrated, and how colors and structures are chosen.
• Model making – how a three-dimensional model is created, which materials are best, and how the architectural idea can be visually presented through a model.
