Dr. Natela Doghonadze visited University of West Attika

Dr. Natela Doghonadze, Professor of the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences of the International Black Sea University, visited the University of West Attika (UniWA) in Athens, Greece within the framework of #Erasmus + Staff Mobility and Inter-institutional Agreement.

Professor Natela Doghonadze attended the Inauguration ceremony of the Fourth International Week of Science conducted by the University with the participation of higher education institutions from 11 countries (Albania, Georgia, Greece, Kenia, Moldova, Montenegro, Uganda, Ukraine, etc.).

The Rector of UniWa Prof. Panagiotis Kaldis, the Head of the Erasmus+ Office, Dr. Evmorfia Zafiri, and Erasmus+/ICM Programme Mobility Coordinator Ms. Fani Papoutsi greeted the participants. Three presentations dedicated to Applied Practices of Inclusion and Equity in Education by the host university were attended.  The second day they were followed by three more presentations by professors of UniWA and round table discussions of the following topics: Inclusive Learning Environments (moderator Sofia Asonitou), Inclusive Assessment (Maria Raggousi and Kosmas Kavvadias), Cultural and Language Competence (Konstantinos Petrogiannis), Learning Difficulties (Anastasia Kanellou), Gender Issues (Stelios Mitilineos), and Ageism (Panagiotis Giannakopoulos). Prof. Doghonadze was involved in the Gender Issues discussion group.

In parallel with the sessions and discussions, Prof. Doghonadze conducted two lectures on “Learning Motivation of Young Learners“ and “Why is research in education needed?” to the PhD students at the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care, Faculty of Administrative, Economics and Social Sciences. There she also met the department staff, including the Chairman of the Early Childhood Education and Care Program, Prof., Dr. Konstantinos Petrogiannis, Asst. Prof., Dr. Maria Hatzigianni, and Asst. Prof., Dr. Kleopatra Konstantoulaki. They discussed the possibilities of further cooperation between our universities and the future opportunities to enhance their Erasmus+ collaboration.

While staying in Greece, Prof. Doghonadze also used the opportunity to meet in person Dr. Tatiani Gkatsa from the Department of Primary Education of the University of Ioannina who is the international scientific supervisor of two doctorate students at the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences of the International Black Sea University, Education Sciences Program.

During the visit, the International Week of Science participants had an opportunity to see the Athens Academy and the University of Athens.
