IBSU Students Have Won the Prestigious JACAFA Foundation Scholarship

Students of the International Black Sea University – Saba Elibashvili and Saba Gulbatashvili, who is currently studying in Portugal through the Erasmus+ program – have been selected as winners of the two-year JACAFA Scholarship.

Saba Elibashvili attended the official award ceremony in Baku, where participants were given the opportunity to engage in cultural dialogue and share experiences.

Saba Elibashvili is an English-language International Relations student and a 2025 scholarship recipient.

“I attended the JACAFA award ceremony in Baku, where scholarship recipients had the chance to meet new people from various Central Asian and South Caucasus countries, share our academic and life experiences, and build meaningful connections.”

Demetre Nadiradze, last year’s scholarship recipient, also had the opportunity to attend this year’s official events in Baku.

“I received the JACAFA Scholarship in 2024. Unlike other scholarship programs, JACAFA is not just a financial aid service – it is an opportunity to become part of a network of the most successful young people from Central Asia. Through the program, I met professionals from leading companies in my field and participated in important intercultural dialogue. I always look back fondly on the memories created at JACAFA events, and I highly recommend all students to consider joining the program.”

The JACAFA Scholarship is a two-year international scholarship program implemented by JACAFA (Japan-Central Asia Friendship Association) and funded by the Nippon Foundation. The program brings together the region’s most successful, active, and motivated students. It serves as a unique platform for talented young people from Central Asia to grow as future leaders, build global connections, and contribute to international projects and cultural dialogue.
