Students of the IBSU are making a project funded by the United Nations
Students of the International Black Sea University are making a project funded by the United Nations. GSI (Gender and Sexuality Initiative) is a project funded by the UN Association of Georgia, which aims to provide accurate information to the public and raise awareness via seminars, workshops, and various activities – debates, group work, Q&A sessions, and quizzes in partnership with various NGOs.
Five “Offsite” and “Online” events are planned within the project. The following organizations are participating in the event: Temida, Femea, Center for Social Justice, Women’s Support Initiative Group and others.
The first meeting, held at the International Black Sea University, was attended by students from the International Black Sea University, the Free University, Ivane Javakhishvili State University, the Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), and other higher education institutions.
“The idea of making the project occurred due to inequality, discrimination, and stereotypes in Georgia, which daily prevents the process of integration of women and minorities in society. It was significant for me to have a team to organize the project effectively as it is impossible to carry out everything alone. For this reason, after receiving the grant, my coursemates Tamar Zhorzholiani, Mariam Mekhrishvili, Mariam Tsitelauri, and Liza Barbakadze from the Free University joined the project, “said Tornike Jincharadze, a student of the American Studies Program at the International Black Sea University.
Meetings under the project will be held through December.
