Representatives of the International Black Sea University (IBSU) participated in the conference held at Tbilisi Public School No. 45 titled “The Black Sea – A Historical Crossroad, a Natural Treasure of the Region.”

The conference was organized by the school’s Geography Club, where 8th, 9th, and 10th-grade students presented reports on the Black Sea region’s economic, cultural, and geographical aspects, as well as on its potential challenges.

Dr. Tamar Shoshiashvili, an energy expert and invited lecturer from IBSU, delivered a lecture for the students on issues related to energy security and energy policy in the Black Sea region. She highlighted the advantages of renewable energy, the importance of energy efficiency.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Shoshiashvili answered questions from both students and teachers. As she noted, it is crucial that students take an interest in such important topics as the pollution of the Black Sea, ecological challenges, regional energy security, and the use of renewable resources. “Raising awareness among students on these issues significantly contributes to the development of civil society and will ultimately have a positive impact on the ecology of the Black Sea and the conservation of water resources,” said Shoshiashvili.
