Doctor of Law, Professor, Dean of the School of Law and Public Administration of the International Black Sea University (IBSU).
In 2011 – graduated from the Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with a bachelor’s degree, and in 2016, graduated from the Caucasus University School of Law with a master’s degree (with honors). In 2022, he defended his dissertation at Caucasus University: “Standard of Equal Protection of the Rights and Obligations of the Parties in a Loan Agreement”, member of the Georgian Copyright Association and the Georgian Bar Association.
Irakli Shamatava is also a graduate of the Tbilisi School of Political Studies. Over the years, he held various positions in the Tbilisi Municipality Council.
Has published more than 20 scientific articles both in Georgia and abroad. He has completed more than 50 certification courses at various times and is a licensed lawyer specializing in civil and administrative law.
In addition to his scientific activities, Irakli Shamatava has received the Giorgi Sharvashidze State Prize in the field of literature. In 2016, he was awarded the prize for his special contribution to the development of the culture of the city of Poti; in 2020, the “Tangerines” prize for Georgian-Abkhazian relations, and in 2022 became a nominee for the Nobel laureate Bertha von Suttner International Peace Prize.
Irakli Shamatava is a participant and moderator of the XXII and XXIII Tbilisi Book Literary Festivals. In 2023, he was in La Coruna, Spain, as part of the Writer’s House Exchange Program (Residencia Literaria 1863, A Coruna, Spain), where he worked on an autobiography book. His stories have been translated into Abkhazian, English, Russian, Armenian, Kazakh, and Azerbaijani languages.
