About Program

The BA program in Economics was established in 2011 and offer studies in English as well as in Georgian. It introduces students to macro- and microeconomic theory, monetary and fiscal policies, models of international economics. Additionally, students will obtain knowledge in the evaluation of the world economy as well as become familiar with the critical economic tendencies related to the field. Furthermore, the program also covers issues related to the Georgian economy, its current trends, and challenges. Overall the primary goal of the program is to deliver a high-quality education that will enable the graduates to meet international standards and provide the labor market with a highly qualified workforce. The undergraduate program offers an excellent background for those who plan careers in government and private enterprise as well as those pursuing graduate degrees in professional schools or the field of economics.

Admission

Georgian citizens are admitted to the program by passing Unified National Exams (detailed information is available at www.naec.ge). The main subjects to be passed are the Georgian language and English language. The third obligatory subject is Mathematics. The minimum competency level for the English language: 50%+1.

International applicants are admitted to the program by the rules set by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Georgia (detailed information is available at https://iro.ibsu.edu.ge/admissions/).

Career Opportunities

The undergraduate program provides an excellent background for those who plan careers in government and private enterprise as well as those pursuing graduate degrees in professional schools or the field of economics. Specifically, the graduates of the BA Program in Economics will have an opportunity to be employed in governmental bodies, such as the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Finance, as well as Departments of International Economic Relations at other related entities. Also, the alumni can target international and regional organizations, international and local NGOs with a primary focus on economics, think-tanks researching major economic trends, educational institutions, banks, and private companies.

For entrants who are not enrolled via Unified National Exams: 4500 USD

Awarded Qualification: Bachelor of Social Sciences in Economics.
