აზერ დილანჩიევი ასოცირებული პროფესორია, რომლის სპეციალიზაცია მოიცავს მწვანე ეკონომიკას, განახლებად ენერგიას და მდგრად განვითარებას. მას აქვს 37-ზე მეტი Scopus-ის ინდექსირებული პუბლიკაცია და Scopus h-ინდექსი 20, რაც მას პროდუქტიულ მკვლევარად აქცევს. აზერი ასევე იყო მსოფლიო ბანკის მრჩეველი საქართველოს განათლების სისტემასთან დაკავშირებით. მისი კვლევა ფოკუსირებულია განახლებად ენერგიაში დინამიურ ინვესტიციებზე, ინფორმაციული და საკომუნიკაციო ტექნოლოგიების (ICT) როლზე ენერგეტიკული ტრანზიციის პროცესში და ურბანიზაციის, ეკონომიკური ზრდისა და გარემოს მდგრადობის ურთიერთდამოკიდებულებაზე.

აზერი, როგორც თავდადებული პედაგოგი, განსაკუთრებულ მნიშვნელობას ანიჭებს პრაქტიკულ გამოყენებებს და იყენებს თანამედროვე ეკონომეტრულ მეთოდებს თავის საქმიანობაში. ის არის ასოცირებული რედაქტორი ჟურნალში Virtual Economics (Scopus Q1), ასევე ასოცირებული რედაქტორი ჟურნალში Energy Exploration and Exploitation (Scopus Q2 და SCIE ინდექსირებული) და მიწვეული რედაქტორი ჟურნალში Discover Sustainability (Scopus Q2).
