    IBSU participated and its academic staff conducted online training in “Junior Achievement Georgia” (NGO) and USAID project: “Pankisi Community Links” sub-project “Teaching Business Concepts in Schools of Pankisi Valley”; Within the framework of the project, the “Junior Achievement” program “Be an Entrepreneur” was implemented in all seven schools of Pankisi Valley in the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades.

    Also, the university implements the program “Be an Entrepreneur” aiming to promote entrepreneurial initiatives by students in the upper classes by studying the main components of a business plan.

  • Computational Social Sciences for Development

    In February 2023, International Black Sea University won the first grant competition announced by the “Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF)” with the project: “Computational Social Sciences for Development” The following universities involved in the project: Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, International Black Sea University and Akaki Tsereteli State University (Kutaisi).

    The purpose of CIF is to develop specific directions for higher educational institutions, modernize academic programs and learning environments, and strengthen connections with the labor market; The project is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the World Bank.

  • Digital Literacy and Multimedia Journalism

    The project “Digital Literacy and Multimedia Journalism” sponsored by the US Embassy took place from April 15 to November 15, 2022.

    The main goal of the project was to develop students’ skills in fact-checking and creating multimedia journalistic products.

    In April 2022, the administration of schools of journalism of the four universities involved in the project (GIPA, CU, UG, and IBSU) selected three students each to undergo internships at the Media Development Fund (MDF), in particular, at the fund’s “Laboratory of Myths” project. The first orientation meeting with the interns was held in MDF on May 11, 2022. After that, students worked remotely from home. Their work process was coordinated by MDF fact-checkers.

    Finally, 8 analytical materials were published on the website of the Laboratory of Myths.  Out of these, 3 materials revealed disinformation and 5 materials revealed manipulation.

The general aims of the project are as follows:

  • To establish a joint research platform that would facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of research activities in the target universities.
  • To create an Online Georgian Research Portal that will display the state-of-the art information on the activities, human resources and infrastructure of the academic institutions in Georgia.
  • To upgrade the research management and data analysis skills of university administrative personnel for producing high quality research management, analyzing institutional research data and providing ground for further forecasting and strategic planning.
  • To enhance the capacity of the target universities in respect to research transfer and university-industry collaboration.
