A project for school teachers funded by the U.S. Department of State has started
The next phase of the US Department of State’s “Civic Education and Technology Using English Language” (CTEL III) program has begun. The first module training has already been conducted with teachers of 6 schools in Tbilisi and Rustavi. Students of the International Black Sea University also take part in the project.
Within the framework of the project, the International Black Sea University is partnering with the Harmony Project Branch in Georgia (PH International) together with Georgetown University. The main goal of the program is to promote the introduction of integrated teaching methods in Georgian schools. The project is coordinated at the International Black Sea University by Prof. Dr. Nikoloz Fardjanadze and Prof Dr. Ekaterine Pipia. Within this period, approximately 500 teachers (including student teachers) from 120 schools operating in Georgia underwent training.
The project was first implemented in 2016, in Adjara and Kakheti regions. In 2018, the program expanded to include Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti. In 2019, the project was implemented in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Kutaisi. In 2020, Guria and Samegrelo regions were added. During 2016-2020, a total of 120 public schools participated in the program. Up to 500 teachers (including student teachers) have been trained.
