Architecture (Georgian-taught)

Purpose of the Programme:

The architecture undergraduate education program’s objectives:

  • To prepare highly qualified personnel equipped with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge and skills for the profession of Architecture. This includes training students to understand thecharacteristics of the project area and existing construction regulations, thereby developing their ability to create professional architectural projects.
  • To provide students with knowledge of the theoretical aspects of the history of architecture; procedures necessary for the implementation of projects/concepts; and contemporary technologies and engineering issues in urban planning processes.
  • To train a specialist in the field in accordance with both local and international requirements and to equip them for further studies at the next level.

 

Learning outcome

Upon successful completion of the architecture education program, graduates will develop the following general and sectoral competencies necessary for the specialty.

 

Admission Preconditions:

According to the Georgian law, passing Unified National Exams is required to be admitted to the educational program. The main subjects to be passed are the Georgian language and foreign language (German, English, Russian, French). The third subject is Mathematics or Physics.

Note: International applicants are admitted to the program by the rules set by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Georgia (detailed information is available at https://ibsu.edu.ge/iro/admission/).

 

To enroll in the program, it is necessary to pass the creative tour.

The creative tour process will consist of two stages: portfolio submission (uploading/sending) and a creative interview.

Stage 1: Portfolio Submission

The candidate must present a creative portfolio, which may include:

  • Drawings, paintings, and sketches;
  • Photos of models or handmade works;
  • Photo or video projects;
  • Any work that demonstrates their creativity, spatial perception, and hands-on skills.

Stage 2: Creative Interview

Candidates selected based on their portfolios will undergo a 15-20 minute interview with the jury, which includes:

  • Discussion of the submitted portfolio;
  • A short graphic task: the candidate will complete an on-the-spot visual assignment within 10 minutes. This task is given in advance without prior knowledge and evaluates spatial perception, graphic expression skills, and creative problem-solving.

Assessment System:

  • Maximum score: 100 points;
  • Score distribution: Portfolio – 30 points; Interview and graphic task – 70 points;
  • Threshold: To receive a passing evaluation, the candidate must score at least 41% of the total.

Dates:

Creative interviews will be held on June 24, 25, and 26.
The deadline for portfolio submission is June 21.

Creative Contest

An applicant (including a person entitled to enroll without passing the unified national exams) who expresses a desire to enroll in IBSU, as well as a student of another higher educational institution who expresses a desire to transfer to IBSU on the basis of mobility to the architecture program, is obliged to go through a creative contest.

Tuition Fees

For entrants who are enrolled via Unified National Exams: 5990 GEL
For entrants who are not enrolled via Unified National Exams: 4900 USD, Scholarship Up to 1000 USD.
