The mission of the Department of Computer Science is to maintain a program of excellence in research. Students receive both quality and technically current instruction, and leading-edge research opportunities. In addition to responsibilities for program excellence and professional development, faculty members are committed to service through continuing education programs and research that contributes to their field. Our mission is to supply the people and ideas that will shape this new frontier.
Over the years, we have developed and strengthened our teaching in disciplines such as artificial intelligence, theoretical computer science, systems design and security. The doctoral program is designed to take into account the individual student’s interest, which means that during the doctoral studies, the student must make an outstanding and significant contribution to the study and development of at least one area.
