Public Lecture – Law in Literature

On November 7^th International Black Sea University hosted a speaker from the US Embassy, Scott Turow, who delivered a public lecturer on ‘Law in Literature’.

Scott Turow is a writer and attorney. He is the author of ten best-selling works of fiction, including his first novel Presumed Innocent (1987) and its sequel, Innocent (May 4, 2010), and his newest novel Identical (2013).  Mr. Turow continues to work as an attorney. He has been a partner in the Chicago office of an international firm, Dentons (formerly Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal), since 1986, concentrating on white collar criminal defense while also devoting a substantial amount of time to pro bono matters.

The lecturer was attended by BA American Studies and English Philology students and the faculty academic staff. Mr. Turow gave a brief highlight of his professional career and touched upon the tendencies both in his own fiction and in modern detective fiction in general. The lecture was followed by an interesting discussion of the US literature, culture and lifestyle. The Faculty of Education and Humanities would like to thank the US Embassy to Georgia for providing our students with such a rare opportunity to meet one of the popular American writers of modern times.
