Olympiads and Competitions at the Faculty of Computer Technologie
19.10.2014In 2013 the students of the Faculty of Computer Technologies and Engineering had following achievements in competitions they took part in:
Vekua Programming Cup Collegiate Competition(Tbilisi, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg). The Students of the Faculty of Computer Technologies and Engineering got 3 Honorable Mentions in Team Contest.
Four teams of the faculty got right to participate in the semifinal of world championship (ACM) between universities and all 4 got an Honorable Mentions.
Open Southern Caucasus Championship in Informatics– Students of the Faculty of Computer Technologies and Engineering got 5 Honorable Mentions in Team Contest and 1 Third Diploma and 3 Honorable Mentions in Personal Contest.
IBSU Programming Olympiad Team received 3rd Diploma in Open Southern Caucasus Championship 2012, December 2. In total Computer Technologies and Engineering students got 16 Diplomas – 12 Honorable Mentions in Team Contest and 1 Third Diploma and 3 Honorable in 2013.
IBSU team won the Hackathon contest at Georgia Innovations’ Week 2014. International Black Sea University Faculty of Computer Technologies and Engineering students, Natia Mamaiashvili, Lasha Amashukeli and Shalva Avanashvili won the Hackathon contest held during Georgia Innovations’ Week. Georgia Innovations’ Week was organized with the support of Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Google Developers Group Tbilisi and Youth Innovations’ Center. IBSU team won in Android category for creating an application that was measuring the strength of a punch. The team will travel to Ankara, Turkey to participate in an international hackathon competition held within the framework of Android Developers’ Conference.
Social Entrepreneurship Student Competition, November 12, 2013 – Social Entrepreneurship Project is initiated by the Strategic Research and Development Center of Georgia. This is interuniversity project. Sophomore students of Computer Technologies and Engineering Faculty participated in the contest, on November 12. They occupied the 3rd place in the contest and were awarded with the certificates.
Robotics Competition
In 2013-14 academic year 2 Robot Kits tutorials are bought for the Robotics Club activities and researches. Computer Technologies and Engineering students (the members of Robotics Club) participated in Robotics Competition held in Eskishehir, Turkey, May 13-14, 2014. Club members occupied 51st place out of 80 participants. The robot constructed by the faculty members had the unique skill of finding colorful balls and identifying their colors that none of the competitor robots had.
A Webinar with Unal Sakoglu– Teleconference was held with Unal Sakoglu, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department Coordinator, Texas A&M University in May, 2013. 4 students participated. Master opportunities, assistant positions and scholarship possibilities were discussed.
