Vakhtang Kokilashvili

Prof. Dr. Vakhtang Kokilashvili was born on May 1, 1938 in Tbilisi. In 1954-1959 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematicsat I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. In 1959-1962 he studied at Doctorate Program (aspirantura) at A. Razmadze Mathematical Institute of Georgian Academy of Sciences and in 1963 he defended his Ph.D thesis on “The coefficients of Fourier trigonometric series, approximation of functions”.

In 1981he defended Doctor of Sciences thesis on “Singular integrals weighted Lizorkin-Triebel spaces, imbedding theorems” and in 1985 he became a Professor. Since 1997 he was a Corresponding Member (Academician) of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and in 2013 he became a Full Member (Academician) of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.

His work experience is mainly connected with A. Razmadze Mathematical Institute; I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Telavi I. Gogebashvili State University and International Black Sea University. In 1989-2006 he was assigned the Vice Director at A. Razmadze Mathematical Institute;from 2006 up to now he is the Head of Mathematical Analysis Department at I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State UniversityandA. Razmadze Mathematical Institute.

In 2006-2009 Vakhtang Kokilashviliwas Professor at Telavi I. Gogebashvili State University; In 1996-2006 – Professor at Sukhumi Branch of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and from 1995 up to now he has been Professor at International Black Sea University.

Professor Kokilashvili has delivered the courses not only in Georgian Universities, but also abroad, in leading universities, among which are Algarve University (Faro, Portugal); Lisbon Technical University (Portugal); Adam Mickiewicz Poznan University, Mathematical Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); Mathematical Institute of Czech Academy of Sciences (Prague); Radgers and Washington Universities (USA); Sassex and Cardiff Universities (UK) and Friedrich Schiller University (Jena, Germany).

Professor Kokilashvili has participated in more than 20 Scientific Symposiums and Conferences in Georgia and abroad. In 1985 he received the A. Razmadze Prize of Georgian National Academy of Sciences. From 1998 to 2016 Professor holds different local and international Scientific Grants, among which are Grant of Georgian Academy of Sciences and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Grant.

Professor Kokilashvili supervised more than 10 defended dissertations Master and Ph.D. theses. He is the author of 7 monographs and his publications count 234 articles in various scientific journals, books and proceedings, about a half of them – in international citation indexed journals.
